About the artist

Steve Keller resides in Carpinteria, CA, and has always enjoyed crafting and creating. Throughout his life, whether diving deep in the ocean, or hiking in the mountains, nature has been a constant companion, and Earth, his playground. When not handcrafting picture frames, he enjoys walking with his girlfriend and dog along the Carpinteria bluffs, camping in the Sespe Wilderness, and having game nights and BBQs with friends. Keller can be found at the Santa Barbara Waterfront Arts and Craft Show most Sundays, the monthly Carpinteria Arts Center show, and at various popup events around California. Stop by anytime and say hi!

About the frames

The idea for making artistic picture frames came to Keller in 2018 while taking a woodshop class through the local community college. The shop teacher challenged students to build something original for their final project. Realizing all his art was still in storage from a recent move, Keller got to work creating something that was both decorative and functional. A California Grizzly Bear was the first frame design he constructed, and his fellow students were very vocal about how unique and creative the idea was. This inspired Keller to continue crafting picture frames after the class ended. Currently, he has over 20 distinct frame designs available.
